Power to watch: Through 33 games, 1B Matt Curry (6-foot-1, 225 pounds, from Red Oak, Texas) is sixth in the league in batting (.360), third in on-base (.456) and slugging (.667) percentages, and tied for fourth in runs (28) and bases on balls (22). Curry also has six homers and 25 RBI. A 16th round draft pick last June, out of Texas Christian University, the left-handed hitter broke into pro ball with the State College (Pa.) Spikes of the New York-Penn League, batting .299 with seven homers and 29 RBI over 58 games last summer, while earning mid-season all-star honors. He has tailed off somewhat after batting .400 in April (22 games).
Legend to watch: RHP Brian Streilein (6-4, 211, from Point Pleasant, N.J.) has not given up a run over five straight relief appearances spanning 6 2/3 innings. Overall, Streilein is 3-0 with two saves and a 1.06 ERA over 11 games and 17 innings. He has struck out 11 and walked two while holding opponents to a .200 batting average. A 2010 37th round draft pick out of Villanova University, he broke in with the Greeneville Astros of the Appalachian League, going 2-1 with a 5.06 ERA over 20 relief appearances and 32 innings, with 35 strikeouts to eight walks. He also worked a scoreless inning for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the New York-Penn League. At Villanova, Streilein was 6-3 with a 4.20 ERA over 13 starts and 90 innings during his senior season. Over four seasons, he won 20 games and struck out 224 over 58 games and 289 2/3 innings. He ranks second in school history in career strikeouts, is tied for third in victories and fourth in innings pitched.
