The Cincinnati Reds annual winter Caravan will visit Lexington on Jan. 25 at the Kentucky Horse Park’s Alltech Arena.
In all, the Caravan will make 17 stops in five states (Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee and West Virginia), Jan. 23-26. Players and staff will be divided among four tours.
Lexington is part of the South tour. All Caravan fans stops are free to the public. At each stop, the Reds will raffle two tickets to the opening day game against the St. Louis Cardinals (Monday, March 31, 4:10 p.m.).
Scheduled to appear on the South tour are broadcasters Thom Brennaman and Jim Day, General Manager Walt Jocketty, catcher Corky Miller, minor-league outfielder Ryan LaMarre, Chief Operating Officer Phil Castellini and mascot Mr. Redlegs. Also, Mat Latos will appear on the first day of the tour, with fellow pitcher Sam LeCure taking his place the final three days.
The South tour will open Thursday, Jan. 23, at Louisville Slugger Field, 5:30-8:30 p.m. Then it’s on to Bowling Green (Greenwood Mall) on Friday, Jan. 24, 4:30-7:30 p.m.; Nashville’s RiverGate Mall (10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.) and Lexington’s Alltech Arena (4-7 p.m.) on Saturday, Jan. 25; and Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park for “Select-a-Seat” on Sunday, Jan. 26, noon-2:30 p.m.
The North tour includes broadcaster Jim Kelch, broadcaster and former pitcher Jeff Brantley, outfielder Billy Hamilton, Reds Hall of Famer Tom Browning, minor league outfielder Jesse Winker, VP of Baseball Operations Dick Williams and mascot Rosie Red.
North tour stops, all in Ohio, are Columbus, Lima, Dayton, Hamilton and Cincinnati.
The East tour includes broadcaster Jeff Piecoro, broadcaster and former pitcher Chris Welsh, manager Bryan Price, pitcher Logan Ondrusek (Thursday only), pitcher Homer Bailey (Friday, Saturday and Sunday), 2013 Minor League Player of the Year Seth Mejias-Brean, Director of Player Development Jeff Graupe and mascot Mr. Red.
East tour stops will be at Athens, Ohio; Charleston, W.Va.; Parkersburg/Vienna, W.Va.; Ashland and Cincinnati. The Ashland stop, at Fannin Motors, is set for Jan. 25, 4-7 p.m.
The West tour includes broadcaster Marty Brennaman, catcher Brayan Pena, broadcaster and former player Doug Flynn, Assistant GM Bob Miller, minor league catcher Tucker Barnhart and mascot Gapper.
West tour sites are Muncie, Ind., Evansville, Ind., Bloomington, Ind., Indianapolis and Cincinnati.
Reds sales representatives will be at each stop to answer ticketing questions and discuss 2014 ticket plans, while the Reds Hall of Fame, the Reds Community Fund and Cincinnati USA Regional Tourism Network will attend selected stops.
